We really need to plan a renunion at Sue's

Well hasn't it been ages since we were all together?  I mean I was so sorry to miss this last class because  of the that ridiculous company I was working for and now I am gone anyway!

How does November sound - like the first week?  I'll see if Sue is up for it.  I mean she can probably paint with us since there won't be any formal instruction.  I can even help out in the kitchen....especially when bacon needs making!

Mary Ann's Artwork & Show

Hi Everyone!  This is Mary Ann's painting that I am posting for her because she is busy getting ready for her show next month and hasn't not figured out how to create a post.  In fact I'm not sure she has been able to sign in a second time.  Any ways the details of her show are listed on my blog and lucky her I had about 50 hits already this week so hopefully some of the folks are from NJ and can get to her show.  She'll be listed first until Monday when I start posting some of my new work.  To see detail go to my blog...

My Sexy New Black Male!

Ho!  Remember Boo boo kitty in Texas?  Well this isn't him.  This is Paco from the Grand Cayman's.  Yes that's right, I am just back from my winter trip to the islands - loved it - and I came across this sexy little fella who will eventually show up in some oil paintings just like Boo has.  Soon to be posted on my blog are paintings of Boo boo kitty.  Hope you all are having a great time (:

Trying Something New

This is a scratchboard, a clay covered hard board with a layer of black ink.  When you scratch with a sharp tool you make a white mark. This is something I teach my high school art students every year, but I have never completed a scratchboard myself.  So. . . . .  finally I admitted this to my students.  They challenged me and gave ME a due date.  Mine was late but at least I finished.  I like to draw, so it was a fun project. If anyone is interested in instructions for scratchboard visit my blog (janispaints.blogstpot.com).  I posted some instructions for friends and students.

Weekly Challenge

Hey everyone Carol finally posted the weekly challenge of painting a woman bathing.  Remember that picture of me in Texas?
Hi, everyone.

I am finally painting again.  All of Carol's instructions are still in my head.  I have had a lot of fun in the studio the past few days.  Working on an entry for Oil Painters of America salon show that will be in held in a near by town.  Hard to believe that a painting of my would get in, but  I will try.

The Car Show

The Car Show
8" x 10"
Oil on Panel

I love painting old cars and trucks.  This is a 1949 Ford V8 Deluxe, in case you're wondering.  I think every car should be red!  I used a mixture of Cad Red Medium and Permanent Rose.  I always have trouble with the shadows on the reds, trying to keep them from looking too brown or too purple. This one was hard - but fun.

Le Geck Se Cache

Hi!  I hope everyone's 2013 has started out better than mine!  No really, painting is going well but work is stressfull and in double measure as I have had to refrain from dancing this year due to pain in my back and left hip.  Bummer I know & pun intended!

I also wanted to keep you all up to date on the events at the Daily Painters site since I have passed the two month marker, and there are none.  I have been painting religiously and posting anywhere from 3-5 pieces a week (not all the 6 x 6's since I have so much art that I wanted to have a little bit in the gallery so people could get a feel for my style so I added older sold works).  Any way, nothing has sold (via the site - I sold a piece myself though).  The most popular piece is pictured here.  Over 50 views but no bites.  About 500 hits to my blog year to date, of which I am not sure which were directed from the daily painters and which were from the S&CO.  If I had to guess I'd say 30 / 70 dpw/s&co (so more directed to it by me & my work circle).  I'm sure I signed up at just about the worst time of year (November with everyone shopping for the holidays) so am confident things will improve eventually......

I continue to produce about 4 paintings a week.  I am on a roll with my photos of boo boo kitty from Texas & can't thank Sally enough for spotting her on the bird bath.  I got some amazing photos and I like some of the pieces I am turning out too - not all 6 x 6's.  I do find that size annoying after a while and I want to paint a bit bigger.  Then I will go back to it for the discipline in seeing and I like change.  I will post a boo boo kitty painting as soon as I take a few photos of them and edit.

Mmwa!  to you all & have the best Saturday ever!  I wish everyone would sign on.  We only got about the 1/2 class participating.  Perhaps it's intimidating and we'll have to go over that next year in class.

Finally!

"Orange, orange, fork, fork"
9" x 12"

I finally finished this piece that I barely got started on in Carole's class.  I kept putting this one off because of all of the stripes.  And it actually wasn't as hard as I anticipated.  I may work on it some more.  I need to look at it for a while and let my head clear.  I think the forks need some work - a few slashes of paint here and there.

Gone Wild!

Well I've gone "Completely Wild" and decided to start painting shoes before the advanced advanced class by Carol.  Who knows maybe I will actually be good at it by then.  If anyone is interested in donating a pair to the insanity of it all please send to me at

Shakespeare & Company
70 Kemble Street
Lenox, MA 01240

After painting all shoes and boots / footwear will be donated to the S&Co costume shop.  Hey your shoes could be worn by Olympia Dukakis this summer while she acts in Mother Courage!  Yes we have a great season planned so anyone that wants to visit the Berkshires let me know since it is very festive during the summer months and loads to do.  In fact too much all in one season it's tiring to go to so many shows, art exhibits, fairs, and parties!

Here's one more

These are "Made in Spain" & that is the name of the piece.  I got them from the costume shop & thought they were cool.  I have no idea what special occasion they are worn for in Spain, but I'm sure once I post them on dpw someone from Spain will let me know!

I love you all.  Have the best holiday season ever & happy painting!  Mmwa!

What is Going On?

Does everyone remember boo boo kitty?  Here he is and a great shot I might add.  I am checking in with you beautiful ladies as everyone else has been remiss in their correspondence!  I have been painting like mad except when I have been down for the count with a cold of some sort or probably stress at work which those of you that are retired can stop laughing about.  Ugh!  Also it has been a month since I have been registered with the daily painters and listing works for sale not daily but about 3 or 4 times a week.  I am pacing my work since I do get it photographed only about twice per year.  So far no sales to report, which of course could change any click now.  There is some linking to my blog but those are all the same paintings in the dpw gallery.  I can't check the stats for my website.  The biggest boost I got to the blog visits was when Shakespeare and Company loaded me to their face book page that increased views by about 50 or so over a week.

That's all for now.  Hope everyone has the best day ever!

Aloha Ladies & Happy Thanksgiving!

So here I am sharing the "Basic Necessities".  Although I take terrible photos I assure you the original is much prettier to look at (I don't think there is that glare and shine thing going on) and well we all need sunglasses and a fine set of pearls!  I haven't heard back from a lot of you on how to use the blog.  I'm sure everyone is very busy with the holidays but I am around painting feverishly if anyone has a questions.  Have the best Thanksgiving ever!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to say how such a great time I had in Dickenson! I wish I could take a workshop every month but life does go on. I wanted to show everyone that we had our Annual Membership Show last week in Waxhahachie Texas and I won an Honorable Mention on the painting I did at Carol's Workshop. I think I must of had a "Good Teacher"! What do you guys think? Thanks for setting up of the blog. We will all enjoy seeing what everyone is doing during the year. Jana

Trying out the Art Bubble

Just checking to see how this blog works.  I painted a series of old trucks, and this is one of the rustiest and oldest.  This one is 6" x 6" and is titled "Rust is the New Black."   I have a website where I publish something every now and then - janispaints.blogspot.com.
I am trying to finish all of my work from Carole's fabulous advanced workshop.  However, life has been in the way, and children and grandchildren are arriving for Thanksgiving. But I will finish and will post when I am finished.
Hope others post their work soon.

Look here I just added an image by clicking the picture button next to the Link words in the back end of blogger.  Of course you had to hit the create post button first (little crayon)!  Now what I do with all those extra avocados is add 1/2 a cucumber, 1/2 lime some sea salt about 1/2 cup of purified water and 1/2 cup of greek yogurt to a blender and viola!  c'est avocado mouse fantastique!  C'est tres bonne!  Try it with a little cayenne and it's even better (:  You can always edit your post too......

Exciting News!

Aloha Ladies !  If I list each participant as a blogger an email will generate to them with a link to invite them to blog / create a post which is what I am doing now, so I think by next weekend I will add / invite everyone to post.  I think you will need to save the link that allows you to create a post AND you will need to hit the crayon button to create the post (writing and or entry for the day).  After writing you can add and image (see the little picture sign next to the words Link in the draft post) hit the publish key after you are done (make sure you check your spelling!).  I think eveyone needs to sign up for the "Follow by Email" so that when one of us creates a post you will be notified.  Any questions, let me know (:  Happy painitng!

I still need the group photo for the back ground - anyone have it????

Love Ya!

A New Day

Aloha beautiful ladies of the Texas Art Bubble!  The blog spot is reserved.  I will need the group photo to set it in the background and at the top & I better not be showing any double chin!  That Sue's cooking has put at least ten pounds on me!  Julia is my partner in crime with setting this blog up.  I sent her and invite to allow her email rights to create posts.  If that works, I will add everyone to the list and everyone should follow by email because then you will know when someone posts something and it will go right to your email.  Way cooler than just email because we can send photos and invitations and weight watchers progress!  Not to worry one of us will walk you through posting too I promise & its so much fun (:

Love Ya

Sophie
